Review

I received this book free through Book Crash, a free program that allows you to read their books in return for an honest review.
This book is a gem, truly. I wasn't sure what to expect from it, as most devotionals I've read are rather surface-y, but oh wow! I am awed, amazed and thoroughly encouraged by this one! The book goes day-by-day devotionals, starting with a verse, and the Hebrew root word that can be translated in the back of the book. Each day devo is only about two-three pages long, but so packed with Godly insight. I was sold for it on Day Two ) There are ones that bring me to tears, challenge me, up lift me, and of course, encourage me, as I stated.
Through my walk with Christ, I have learned many, many things, and one of those is the importance of repenting, prayer (obvious), and declaring. Declaring what He has shown me, declaring I am new in Him, announcing and declaring I am His. There are so many examples of announcing and declaring, so I won't get into all of them, but that is an important part of my faith. And I was SO thrilled and excited when at the end of each devotional, the author has a "Declaration" section after the prayer! I will also say, I was so excited about him including a prayer at the end of each too, and not only that but they are such godly prayers, so chock-full of foundation and...oh it's just wonderful.
I'm going to give you an example from the book
Day One is titled "He Alone Empowers Us to Love Him", it has a Hebrew word, then gives Deut. 64-5 for Scripture, then proceeds through the (amazing) devotional. At the end, is the prayer, that truly does express ones heart very well, and then it is the Declaration, and that begins like this "I declare that by faith, my love for God is all- consuming everyday. By the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in me, I daily choose by an act of faith to love the Lord with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my might..." etc. The rest is really, really good too. Every single one of them are. This is not just a surface devotional that you read quick and forget about it the same day, it is a book to feed our hunger for God. I am thoroughly impressed by this book, and love it. I have learned much from it, and it has lifted me up on days when I was down. It has reminded me of my Abba Father's extreme care for me. It teaches me to grow even when it's hard.
There are convicting days in this devotional, I will `warn' you. They don't just let us be comfortable, these probe us to search our hearts so that we may be pure before our Lord.
Again, I love this book, and give it the well-deserving 5 stars. My entire family and I enjoy this gem of a book!

Thank you, Book Crash, for allowing me to review this book!
Priceless Stones 42 Days of Hebrew Promises for Kingdom Living by James Revoir is a 42 day devotional which explores the Hebrew root words for scriptures. Each devotion begins with the Hebrew word and its English pronunciation. This is followed by a scripture and then a devotional explaining the root word and how it effects the context and depth of the passage. Each day's devotion concludes with a prayer, declaration and questions. The very back of the book contains a glossary of all the Hebrew words used in the study. There are 145 Hebrew words taught in this book. That's not bad for only 42 days of reading!

I am currently studying Hebrew with my family. The language is so full and rich in meaning. James Revoir did a beautiful job of capturing the importance of the language and how knowing it (even the slightest bit) can greatly expound your understanding of scripture.

My favorite devotions are for Day 34 and 38. In Day 34 Revoir quotes Joshua 15 and expounds on the word raphah (spelled in Hebrew רָפָה). meaning "to sink or relax". He explains how this verse is telling us (in Yahweh's own voice) that he won't abandoned post and go enjoy a nap while you are facing a trail. He doesn't drop the ball but is consistently with us without fail.

On Day 38 the author tackled one on my big pet peeves and made me want to shout "Amen!". On page 163 Revoir writes, "Jesus bore all of our sorrows. He did not simply declare them to be gone by the word of His mouth, though He could easily have chosen to do so." Many believers (especially in Oklahoma near the biggest name it claim it denomination) can learn from this observation which is pure fact. You know what? I can learn from it too. We all say we want to reflect God, to follow his example in our corrupted world. Yet me miss this. He could have named and claimed his own healing and ultimately our healing but instead he took the pain. Why? Think about it. It's so much harder to just say your pain or the pain of your friend is gone in Jesus name. It's much harder to carry the burden of their illness and loving them and carrying their pain for them (whether it means making a meal, interceding on their behalf, or changing their bandages). This is what I gleaned from one day's study alone.

There was one thing that was odd to me. In a book that focused on Hebrew the author still uses the word Jesus which is known to be a poor transliteration that leans more to the Greek than Hebrew rather than his Hebrew name, Yeshua. I do understand why he made this choice, but felt Messiah might have been a better choice.

In either case, there is still so much food of thought contained in Priceless Stones that it is a very worthy purchase.

You can order yourself a copy from the publisher here for $13.88. If you prefer reading on a kindle, this book is available in that format for $2.99 on .

Read a chapter a day of this book and learn many important Hebrew words! It will deepen your knowledge of God's Word...
Personally, I found this book informative in ways, yet not incredibly convicting or life-changing; yet perhaps you will gain from it more than I.

Some things that bothered me in this book where the following
The author desn't give the meaning of the Hebrew word of the chapter until middle of chapter.
Since I like systematic studies of- anything!- I found this book slightly random as to the order in which the words are taught. However, that very relaxed style lends to easy spontaneous reading, which is good for many people's busy schedules.

Lastly, I don't appreciate the prescribed prayers and especially declarations at the end of each chapter which are meant for any reader to proclaim yet which cannot be true for every reader, that is certain.

I thought it was good how the author brought many real-life instances into the book which helped bring the lessons on God's goodness or strength to life!

the author's bio declares....''James has a passion to invite the reader to not only be acquainted with, but to personally experience, the amazing, incomprehensible, boundless love of God and to radically encounter Him on a deeply intimate level to such an extent that the reader is never the same again. ''

I received this book to review through BookCrash...I was encouraged to express my full opinion. I would like to thank both BookCrash and the publisher of this book for allowing me to read and share my thoughts.
This book is awesome. While I read I had my bible next to me to continue reading the scriptures. It helped me greatly.
