Zara Riddle moved to a small town so her life could be quiet and safe. But now that her witch powers have kicked in, life is anything but. Long-lost relatives are coming out of the woodwork, and it turns out the family tree is riddled with magic.

When a ghost shows up, Zara finds out her Spirit Charmed powers come with a cost. She must solve the woman's murder. Zara teams up with her handsome neighbor, a wolf shifter who's both mysterious and perfect. Maybe too perfect? He did save her life during a vicious attack, but some strange coincidences have Zara second-guessing her alliances.

The town of Wisteria may be quaint on the surface, but danger lurks around every corner. To protect her family, Zara must risk her heart and her life. Forces of good and evil will face off in a battle where one side has a secret advantage.

One thing's for sure. Zara Riddle is keeping these new powers, blue lightning balls and all.

Once you go witch, you never switch.

- Reader review, Mys Sherry

Zara Riddle moves with her daughter, Zoey, from the city to small town Wisteria. Zara is in love with their new home a red Victorian house. However, she thinks that the real estate agent should have revealed that there was a ghost attached to the house. Later, she finds out that she is a witch and her hunky neighbor who helped her move in is a shapeshifter.

Zara is also surprised when total strangers greet her like she should know who they are. When she meets her Aunt Zinnia in a shoe store and they look so much alike one mystery is solved. However, the ghost that is attached to her wants Zara to find out who murdered her.

This was a fun, cozy mystery. I liked the characters and the story. There are more things to discover about Wisteria and its inhabitants.
Aww, this one was kooky and fun. Actually, I think it was Zara herself who was kooky and fun. Zoey's not quite at her level of kookiness, but she's only sixteen. She has time to grow into her off-beatedness.

So. Wisteria. A small town with some big secrets. Moving there seems like a dream come true for Zara, but those secrets start popping up almost as soon as she rolls in. Things like ghosts and otherworldy critters and an aunt Zara hadn't seen in ages.

You know, LITTLE THINGS.

As the secrets begin to be revealed and Zara learns about her family's legacy, she's also dancing around the mystery of the death of her house's previous owner (that's kinda a mouthful, isn't it?). Her neighbor is VERY distracting (and there's a bit of a mystery surrounding the two of them, isn't there?) and the town just keeps getting more interesting every time she turns around.

Witches, shifters, a quirky town, and a touch of danger. Ahh, Wisteria.

I found this book on Facebook yesterday, and read it yesterday - and book 2 today 😉. I like that Sara follows her instincts and the way she reacts when she finds out she is a witch. She doesn't get angsty, deny her powers until she can't, or immediately know all there is to know. Her burgeoning relationship with Chet rings true for a moderately confident woman. Full of confidence until he abruptly does the whole guy shift. Then she worries about it, until she shrugs it to the back of her mind to keep going. She doesn't run away, and rings true. Love the new series, and just downloaded book 3.
This was a fun light mystery read within the framework of a single parent as the new librarian in a strange little town. Her new house has an occupant that needs her help. With the aid of her handsome neighbor and her new found aunt, Sara discovers her new life is more dangerous than she ever imagined. This rendition also provides a lengthy preview of the next book in this enjoyable series. Love the snark!
I have to admit I was getting a little worried when I started reading this. I had selected a cozy mystery and am very conservative and was starting to wonder what I had gotten into, but I loved it! I will be getting the sequel. Zara has a biting, witty sense of humor, you never know exactly what she will say, think, or do next. This kept me reading similar to a fast-paced action, adventure show. There is plenty of action (and even a great fight scene), but Zara's wit steals the show. I love mayhem and she's filled with it! Plotline Zara moves from the big city to a small town called Wisteria. The town (and it's people) are a bit odd (like a real estate agent named Dorothy who has a dog named Toto and carries a wicker basket instead of a briefcase), but Zara fits in remarkably well. She is a single mom, whose daughter, Zoey, has just turned 16. Sixteen is the magical number and suddenly they both discover they are witches (Zara's powers apparently didn't manifest at the age of 16 because she was pregnant with Zoey then). Luckily (or was it witchcraft) they have moved to the town where Zara's long-lost aunt lives. Zinnia is also a witch and becomes their trainer/mentor. Next we have a ghost haunting Zara's house, who is able to take possession of Zara and make her a great cook. She also wants Zara to solve the mystery of her murder. Of course, we must also have a fabulously attractive neighbor (there is a lot of flirting that goes on, but the book does stay true to being a cozy or clean book, I don't know that I'd recommend it for someone under 16, or in this day and age 12, but it does stay clean). I don't want to give anything away (I'm not big on spoilers), so you'll have to read it to find out more. There are twists and turns and lots of fun, it even kept me up at night reading through to get to the end of Zara's most recent adventure so I could go to sleep.
Zara, Zoey and Aunt Z are a blast. This is a really sun book. It is easy to read and the story keeps you wanting more and more of the Riddle women and the Moore men. I highly recommend this book to cozy mystery fans. So glad I was able to get a copy and read this book.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
DNF at 30%. Childish writing, thin plot, non likable characters. Obviously this was not for me. If you like fluff with no plot, then this is for you.
Or maybe its all the stuff I'm on here in the Hosp, but I enjoyed it. And I'm thankful to have a full to occupy my mind while Im flat on my back a week before Christmas. Looking forward to the new book, hopefully to be read at home.
